Creative Sculpting with Ilona

Tuesdays 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Four weeks: September 8 to 29

Discover the freedom of an open studio environment where creativity and exploration are encouraged. The Creative Sculpture courses with Altona Artisans focus on the versatility of clay, while also welcoming the use of complementary materials such as paper, cardboard, fabric, and other mixed media.

Under Ilona’s guidance, you will learn how to shape, refine, and decorate your work to reflect your own ideas and style. Whether you wish to model figures, animals, plants, portraits, or abstract forms, the emphasis is on personal expression and creative discovery. Participants are supported at every stage - from the initial concept to the finished piece - in a relaxed yet focused studio setting.

Materials supplied.

Mosaics - Exploring a Variety of Materials

4 × 2-hour classes

Saturdays, 1pm–3pm

September 19 & 26, and October 10 & 17

Create a vibrant, textured mosaic plaque using an eclectic mix of materials, including tesserae, tiles, crockery, beads and stones.

Across four hands-on sessions, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mosaic design and technique, including colour combinations, cutting, smashing and placing materials. We’ll also cover adhesives, grout, suitable bases and safe working practices.

You can follow a planned design or let the shapes, colours and textures of the materials inspire your creation as you go.

Suitable for beginners and crafters — all materials supplied.

Cost: $240 pp

Hand Building

These weekly, two-hour classes make it easy for anyone to start hand-building pottery. Fleur guides and encourages you at every stage, from concept to completion. You’ll master foundational hand-building techniques to create a variety of shapes and forms. Classes cover decorative surface techniques such as carving, stamping, and texturing, as well as glazing to enhance your finished pieces. Join us for a term and experience the creative fulfillment that comes with hand-building.  Discover the rewarding process of creating ceramics on the wheel and unlock your creative potential by enrolling in one of our terms.

Wheel Taster Workshops

2 hours Pottery Wheel taster class.

Have you always wanted to try the pottery wheel? Well, here is your chance. Saturdays and Sundays - select a Saturday or email us your preferred date.

Your small group of up to 6 people will have the full attention of our instructors, ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Completely NO experience required. It’s also a great opportunity to bring a friend or two and check out Altona’s beach afterwards.

All clay and tools are provided. At the end of the session, you will come away with something made on the wheel. Our instructors will finish off your creations, so in a few weeks’ time you can collect your masterpieces, which are dish-wash proof.
