The Hobsons Bay Community Advancement Co-operative trades as Louis Joel Arts & Community. The Board of Directors provides the strategic direction and vision for the Centre as well as ensuring good governance. Board members come from various professional backgrounds and contribute a mixture of skills and abilities that support and develop the Arts and Community Services.
The Board is committed to continuing our collaborative process with staff, volunteers, council, community groups, artists and government organisations.
Catherine has been on the Board of HBCAC since February 2017. Bringing 17 years of experience as a corporate lawyer in financial services and superannuation businesses, she has steadily uplifted the corporate governance of the organisation in her roles as Secretary, Deputy Chair and Leader of the Governance Sub-Committee. Elected to the role of Chair in November 2021, she has steered the organisation through some significant changes, driven by a strong belief in community connectedness through participation in the arts. She highly values the voluntary contributions of those who help LJAC to navigate its role in delivering art and community programs and greatly enjoys the opportunity to see the community enjoying our space at our Friday night exhibition launches.
After 25+ years’ overseas career in the medical and pharmaceutical industry, Aurore moved to Australia in 2010. Based in Geelong, she held various executive and non-executive senior positions in Clinical Research Organisations and Medical Device companies in Victoria and New South Wales, with patients’ safety and well-being at the forefront of her responsibilities.
Aurore has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science and is Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), and a believer that good governance goes hand in hand with a robust strategy and risk management framework, supported by accountability and open communication.
A keen artists’ supporter, she has curated painting and printmaking exhibitions and recently set-up residency activities on the Surf Coast for local emerging artists.
She joined the Board in December 2025, supporting the Louis Joel Arts & Community as the leader of its Building sub-committee and a willingness to sharing space and experience in a respectful and inclusive culture environment.
Jeremy joined the Board in December 2025. With over 20 years in technology leadership, he has served as Chief Information Officer for several of Victoria’s major residential building companies, spanning IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity and enterprise systems. Today, through his advisory practice, he helps organisations strengthen their business strategy and resilience through the smart use of technology and digital transformation.
A resident of Altona for more than 16 years, Jeremy’s family has grown up in the area and formed strong connections to the local community. He looks forward to bringing his governance and digital technology skills to the Board, supporting the Centre and giving back to the community he calls home.
Rima joined the board
in November 2025. She holds various tertiary qualifications including a PhD in
molecular biology and a Master of Science in Biochemistry. She has 25+ years’
experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries in research &
development and global regulatory affairs. She is also a Graduate of the
Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Rima holds a strong passion for both visual and written arts. She is a self-published children’s book author and a keen writer of screenplays. Rima looks forward to leveraging her professional strategic, compliance and governance experiences to enhance the community cultural experience at LJAC.
Julie joined the Board in April 2026 and brings over 30 years’ experience across people and culture, leadership, corporate strategy, governance and risk management. Julie is a Member of the AICD and holds a Master of International Business Degree and a Bachelor of Business. She has long been involved with volunteer committee positions with numerous NFP community and sporting organisations and is a Mentor with organisations that advance women in elite sport (Minerva Network) and those in male-dominated industries (NAWO).
In her professional life, Julie has significant executive experience in a global agriculture company and has built her career as a senior leader in the higher education sector, management consulting, finance, and mining industries.
Julie and her family have lived in the inner west for three decades and she greatly values the physical environment so close to the city, and the broad community opportunities her family have enjoyed. She is passionate about supporting people’s wellbeing and growth through meaningful activity and strong community connections and brings a professional, practical, collaborative style and energy to the Louis Joel Arts & Community Board.
