Meet Our Team

Karen

Centre Manager

Karen is a leader in the arts and community sector, with a background in community development, health promotion, advocacy, education, artist manager and public relations and joined LJAC as Centre Manager in April 2022.

A published author,

Danielle

Community & Cultural Development
Danielle has worked with the Centre since 2017. She has a particular interest in climate resilience and ways community can come together on climate adaptation and contribute to the regeneration of nature. Among other things, Danielle manages our volunteering program and community sustainability initiatives including Repair Café and Edible Garden program.

There are lots of ways to get involved in what’s happening at the Centre or help grow what is currently available. If you have a program/project idea or are interested in volunteering through an existing program or facilitating a new program. Get in touch with Danielle via culture@ljac.com.au

Madeline

Gallery & Exhibitions Producer

Madeline has been an integral part of our team for almost 2 years, guiding artists from the planning stages right up through to the end of their exhibition. With a background in community arts, she loves to produce art which is reflective of our local community’s driving interests and shared passions.

Outside of the arts, she is an urban geographer, writer, and amateur birdwatcher (she likes to wear many hats at once).

If you have an idea for an exhibition or an arts project which you think would shine at Louis Joel Arts & Community – she can be contacted at the Centre on Fridays & Saturdays or at gallery@ljac.com.au

Zoe

Gallery Shop & Engagement

Zoe is a local and has been an integral part of our staff since January 2024. She comes here as a textile artist, and with 10 years experience as a producer and in project & artist/designer management, so has knowledge on both sides of what it’s like to be an artist.

Zoe works at the Centre on Sundays and Mondays, managing our gallery shop and online engagement. Zoe loves interacting with the local art community, and devising innovative ways the Centre can connect with audiences.

If you’re a local artist, designer, crafter or maker looking to exhibit your small works in our gallery shop, contact Zoe at gallery@ljac.com.au

Hannah

Administration
Hannah (she/her) has been a part of the LJAC team since January 2024. Hannah brings to her role at LJAC a passion for community service and a commitment to fostering connections within the Altona community. She finds great meaning in being part of a space that offers so much to its residents. She is currently studying an undergraduate degree in Art History/Curating and Business, aiming to utilise her education in community arts spaces.
Hannah can be found at LJAC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, supporting the day-to-day operations of the Centre.
