Artful Dabblers

Come to create and be inspired in a friendly, supportive group atmosphere.  You can paint, draw, do textile or paper craft or try something new – the choice is yours!

On Location Sketching with Nancy

Nancy Belyea hosts this popular outdoor sketching group that concentrates on capturing the likeness of local people and scenes. The group learns new techniques in an informal setting. Meet in foyer at Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre.

Pastel/Oil/Acrylics with Bill Kerr 

Tuesday 10.00am–12.00pm | $15 per session

Oil, pastel and acrylic painter Bill Kerr teaches this art class. Bill has been painting most of his life and is a member of the Victorian Artists Society and the Pastel Society of Victoria. Bill has won many awards for his work.

Watercolour with Ted Dansey 

Monday 12.30pm | $20 per session

Join highly regarded artist Ted Dansey for this watercolour class.  

Ted has exhibited in numerous solo shows as well as a number of group shows. He is a multi-award winning artist who’s latest wins include Best Watercolour 2017 Hobsons Bay Rotary Art show and ANL Maritime Art Award 2017.

Kumon

Monday, Thursday and Friday 3pm – 6pm

‘The Kumon Method is an individualised learning method. The starting point for each Kumon student is determined individually. Students start with the level where they can attain a perfect score by studying on their own. If students continue to study at their own pace, they will catch up with their school grade level and eventually advance far beyond it.’

Community Yoga Classes

Community Yoga Classes are led by Hannah, a qualified Hatha yoga teacher with a background in community, humanities and psychology. Join her for a rejuvenating stretch designed to help us relax to the max. All genders, bodies, abilities and yoga experience welcome!

Death Cafe

Last Saturday of the Month, 2pm-4pm

Join in a monthly conversation with people who are also interested in talking about death. While death is inevitable, it’s often a topic that is avoided or spoken about in hushed tones. The monthly Death Café
will be facilitated in a safe and supported setting, however Death Café is NOT a grief support or counselling session. 

FREE – although donations are appreciated.

Fridays by the Bay

Fridays, 10am to 1pm

A fortnightly social activity group offering arts and wellbeing activities, guest speakers, lunch and a regular outings.

Delivered in partnership with Hobsons Bay City Council, the program is open to Hobsons Bay residents aged 18 to 65.

Kings of the Kitchen

Wednesdays 10am – 12pm

A cooking program for men of all ages. Join our volunteers in the kitchen at the Altona Senior Citizens Centre and learn, experiment, play, taste and take home what you cook. Cost: $6 per week
